Wedding Dances

Wedding receptions require an active entertainer who can guide the evening's activities in a professional manner and get people involved without being obnoxious. I don't bring inflatable hammers, or parrots of any kind. A varied music collection is also important to cater to the wide variety of guests. My complete music collection is indexed on computer, so I can find songs and requests FAST without bringing along constantly outdated song books. My standard wedding package includes four hours of non-stop music on my powerful sound system, as well as "necessary extras" like a wireless microphone and a 10-piece lighting system.

Need an LCD projector for slides or a video montage? No problem - I have a professional 1,800-lumen video projector available for PowerPoint presentations or DVDs.

The Sound System This is my second-to-largest system, at 10,000 watts. For very large crowds (500 or more) I can actually double this! My minimum package is made up of two JBL SoundFactor speakers and two Yamaha 18" subwoofers, with a total of 3,900 watts of power. Some DJ's use smaller, home-made or no-name speakers, and charge extra for subs or only include them in larger packages. But don't confuse "size" with "too loud". Nothing sounds worse than a sound system pushed too hard and simply too small for the room, but a good sound system running half as loud as it can go will sound crystal clear and actually dramatically decreases listener fatigue. I'm often complimented for choosing exactly the right sound level so that the dance floor is moving but guests aren't leaving because of the "noise". Also, to enable all your guests to hear announcements and toasts clearly, without deafening the front row, it is critical to get the speakers higher than people's heads, not just sitting on the floor or a small stack. (If you can't tell by now, I really do take this stuff seriously!) So by bringing subs and better equipment, I have the headroom to adapt to the size of your crowd without straining the equipment, your budget, or your guests' ears!

School Dances

For school events strong bass, dynamic lighting, and the latest music are all mandatory. I have four dual 18" subwoofers with 9,600 watts just dedicated to deep clean bass you can feel. The lighting system includes lights that move to the music and fog to help bring out the lighting effects. As a professional DJ, I receive compilation discs of the latest music every month from record companies, so I have the hits even before the radio stations play them, and months before they're available on CD! Lighting, set-up, and planning assistance is included in both the packages above! However, mileage expenses will be added to events an hour or more from Sioux Falls. Please contact me with your location and event details for an overall estimate.
